Emergency Medical Responder

The Emergency Medical Responder course provides a learning experience that will enable the student to acquire and assimilate the necessary technical competencies to function effectively as a first responder to medical emergencies in the pre-hospital environment. The course duration is 5 days for a total of 40 hours. The course format is 20 didactic hours which includes HIV/AIDS and BLS CPR training and 20 lab/practical skills training which included hands on training in basic first aid, CPR, triaging, patient assessment, and using an AED.

EMR students will learn:

  • To comprehend, apply and evaluate clinical information regarding his/her role as a Emergency Medical Responder.
  • Demonstrate all technical ability in all skills necessary to perform the role of a Emergency Medical Responder
  • Comprehend and demonstrate proper CPR following AHA guidelines.
